Five people suffered minor injuries when a Saudi Air Force helicopter crashed in Al-Baha on Tuesday during a training flight.

A Ministry of Defense source said the aircraft went down at 11:00 am It was carrying five security personnel including two officers.

The crash took place in a mountainous area about 2 km from the city of Al-Baha. Various air force rescue teams and ambulances were sent to the site.

The source said the crash took place because of a “technical glitch” that forced the helicopter pilot to make an emergency landing. No one was badly hurt and the air force has launched an investigation, the source said.

An air force plane with Red Crescent paramedics onboard flew the injured to King Fahad hospital in Al-Baha.
