RIYADH: A Yemeni resident was killed and two people injured on Thursday after debris from a Houthi drone fell in Taif after it was intercepted and destroyed, Saudi Arabia’s Civil Defense said.

A female Saudi citizen and a Pakistani resident were injured, with the Pakistani national in critical condition. The falling debris also caused material damage to several buildings and vehicles, the government agency said.

Images posted by the Saudi Press Agency showed windows in cars and shop fronts shattered by the shrapnel, with nearby buildings also damaged.

The attack comes after the Houthis attempted to target the holy city of Makkah on Tuesday. Saudi air defenses intercepted a drone at 6:50 p.m. Saudi time on Tuesday south of Makkah.
