In a step toward further integrating the work of national institutions, the Ministry of Defense (MoD) and King Abdul Aziz City for Science and Technology (KACST) have signed a scientific cooperation agreement.
President of KACST, Mohammed Ibrahim Al-Suwaiyel, said the deal encompasses cooperation in the area of technical development and the transfer and localization of technology, especially in technical and applied sciences.
Army Chief of Staff Gen. Hussain bin Abdullah Al-Qubail hailed the deal, saying it will strengthen the existing relations between the Armed Forces and KACST. The MoD, he said, is the biggest beneficiary of KACST, especially in terms of scientific development related to weapons systems.
Regarding other military-oriented programs, Prince Turki bin Saud said that the Kingdom would be conducting experimental flights with a multi-purpose helicopter.
He also said that a satellite fully designed by Saudis would be launched in cooperation with NASA next October.
