JEDDAH: Residents of Buraidah have different tastes when it comes to how they spend Ramadan nights. Some prefer to walk around and stroll while others spend their time at the markets shopping and browsing the goods amid a vibrant and busy traffic movement that kicks off after iftar and lasts until late at night.

Families in general enjoy spending time at parks in the area such as King Abdullah Park and Al-Rafiaa Park, or at the resorts and special rest areas in the suburbs.

Khalid bin Salman Al-Olaiqi, a resident of the area, said he spends the nights of Ramadan after Taraweeh prayers amid the palm trees.

“Amid the palm trees on the surrounding farms, there are locations specified for special family gatherings where people can prepare their own meals such as maqloubeh for suhoor. The weather is great and the location is away from the noise of the city. The area is located in a rural location named Qusaiha, about 8 km from the city of Buraidah,” he added.

Abeer Al-Ali said she has spent the nights of Ramadan visiting relatives or gathering with them at resorts or chalets

Food expert Naif Al-Abdullah excels at cooking the different kinds of meals usually prepared outdoors. He spent the nights of Ramadan with his friends in the wild, cooking and putting a smile on everybody’s face. His friend, Bandar bin Mohammad said Naif can cook almost every Arabic dish.

Some citizens and residents find comfort and joy in the camps erected to the east and west of Buraidah, on the green landscapes at King Abdullah Park.

Khalid Al-Zuhairi said Ramadan nights have a special flavor with friends and relatives gathering in the camps away from the noise of the city. “They gather together with love and affection, eating dates and praying Taraweeh. It is an all-encompassing special joy for children and adults,” he added.
