The civil defense office has received as many as 936 enquiries and complaints pertaining to the weather in view of the recent sandstorm that swept the Kingdom.
The calls varied between inquiries related to weather conditions, schools’ suspension and reporting of suffocation cases due to dust, Col. Mansour Al-Dossari, spokesman for the Directorate of Civil Defense in the Eastern Province, said.
Complaints about damage to billboards and uprooting of trees were also received, he said, adding that there were no reports of any injuries.
“All Civil Defense Departments are on a vigil to deal with any incident. They are also in regular contact with the Presidency of Meteorology and Environment Protection to take an update on weather conditions, especially at the time of climate variability that may result in accidents,” Al-Dossari said.
