JEDDAH: A Saudi researcher has launched an electronic platform to teach Arabic language to non-Arabic speaking people, local media said.

The platform, named Katatib, is being launched in cooperation with Iqra Institute, which is affiliated to Saudi schools in Malaysia and plans to use iterative multimedia for different age categories, Al-Hayat daily reported.

Mohamed Gharwi, founder of the platform and a Ph.D. student at Multi-Media University, Malaysia, said the platform is a promising start in teaching Arabic language through the open course known as MOQ, which is a new course in the field of education.

The program allows participation of a wider number of learners and will cover all levels of learning Arabic language through well-prepared items and lectures, added.

He said Malaysia is considered as one of the most interested countries to learn Arabic, a matter which prompted the launch of the platform to help students at different stages.

Targeting the Malaysians will be the first stage and in the following stages the platform will be developed to cater to a global educational experience, he said.

He pointed out that there are Saudi educational experiences, which are prepared to join efforts if they find suitable platforms.

He stressed that the platform comes in the context of continued and strenuous efforts exerted by the Royal Saudi Embassy in Malaysia for teaching Arabic language as the platform is being supported by Iqra Institute.
