Riyadh Gov. Prince Sattam yesterday chaired the 12th meeting of Riyadh province’s Tourism Development Council (TDC) in the presence of Deputy Riyadh Gov. Prince Muhammed bin Saad and President of the Saudi Commission for Tourism and Antiquities (SCTA) Prince Sultan bin Salman.

Prince Sattam stressed the importance of the need for public and private sector organizations to intensify efforts toward upgrading and improving tourism services during the summer season.

He said the city of Riyadh has become a tourist destination for all seasons in terms of business, shopping or culture. Visitors come from all parts of the Kingdom and the GCC countries, he said.

Prince Sultan bin Salman said Prince Sattam’s chairmanship of the TDC is a milestone and represents enormous support for tourism.

He said the SCTA will be a branch and an executive arm for the TDC and in this context lauded efforts exerted by the Riyadh governorate to boost tourist projects in the region.

Prince Sultan said the tourism sector has become an effective business sector in different parts of the Kingdom, and has a Saudization rate of 26 percent. The meeting reviewed a number of tourist programs in Riyadh and how to improve tourist services and attract visitors from different parts of the Kingdom.
