JEDDAH: A list compiled by the Westminster City Council ranks Saudis at the bottom of a list for evading parking ticket fees in London, a list which consists of 20 nationalities.

French nationals led the list of evaders with parking fees worth £318,000, followed by Belgians at £81,000, Germans at £68,000, Qataris £65,000, and Romanians fifth, followed by Italy, the Netherlands, and Irish nationals. UAE nationals were also in the top ten, coming in ninth with £38,000, and finally Kuwait ranking 18th with £10,000.

Saudis ranked at the bottom with an impressively low figure of £6,500 (SR39,000).

The council issued a stern warning stating that it will be making contact with the respective embassies of the violators to ensure that the violations are paid.

European violators will be made to pay the evasion fee through the European Computer Driving License. Refusal will allow the British authorities to sue them for retrieval of the incurred amounts.

The council estimates that more than 600,000 vehicles enter London daily, an area where one million people use public transports to commute to and from their destinations. A famous case of parking ticket evasion in the city was made by the former US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton. A traffic warden issued her car a traffic ticket worth £80 (SR480) during her visit in 2013.
