Privates schools in Makkah are renting out their playing fields to youth for amounts ranging between SR 150 to SR 200 per hour in a bid to increase their income.

Workers in these schools have said the monthly income of these schools does not exceed SR 30,000. 

Ahmed Al-Heliess, head of the Educational Committee in the Makkah Chamber of Commerce and Industry, defended the renting of playgrounds, saying this helps private schools meet their expenses, adding that they can rent upon the condition that they are supervised.
