A taxi driver who refuses to take on handicapped passengers or individuals with special needs will be fined SR500.

Majid Hassan, director of the Makkah Transport Department, said Sunday violations will be monitored and detected either by Transport Department controllers or complaints filed by people on the department’s website. “The department will address the complaint immediately.

The driver will be brought to the department to be informed of the violation and the fine slapped,” explained Hassan.
