Several students have been reprimanded by the Education Department in the Al-Mujamma area in Riyadh after assaulting their teacher.

The department issued the statement on Wednesday.

The students had allegedly attacked their teacher various times at the Muhammad bin Qasim educational compound in Mashthouba.

The teacher was severely wounded and suffered a fracture of the hand.

The students had allegedly argued with the teacher about a book when the head of the center and other teachers intervened to end the disagreement. The teacher later stopped to speak to one of the students as he was leaving with a couple of colleagues, only to be attacked by other students.




A security man on patrol at the school gate intervened to end the clash. Officials say the investigation will continue once the teacher’s health improves.

A committee formed to investigate the incident recommended enforcing an article in the code of conduct that states that the students will be permitted to take their exams at another school but would not receive their grades.
