Ambassador Ezzedin H. Tago hosted an Eid reception Wednesday night at the Liwasang Bonifacio of the Philippine Embassy inside the Diplomatic Quarter (DQ). More than 400 Filipinos attended.
“The occasion was a good opportunity indeed for Filipinos, Muslims and not, to get together and partook of the food in the Kingdom and in southern Philippines usually served during Eid,” Tago told Arab News.
A cultural presentation was also held on the occasion.
He said that the non-Muslim guests had a “good opportunity to know more about the culture of their fellow Filipinos from southern Philippines as they got to meet and know each other during the reception.”
He added that he was happy over the “enthusiastic response by Filipinos from southern Philippines and other parts of the country to the invitation for Eid reception.”
“Although there was a good response in the past to embassy’s invitations during Eid, we at the embassy were wondering if
many would again attend this time. And we were happy that the number of guests exceeded our expectations,” he said.
The embassy also awarded two achievers among the staff for their services.
Second Secretary and Consul Roussel Reyes received the Gawad Mabini Award with a rank of Dakilang Kasugo and Ibrahim Zaillon was the recipient of Gawad Mabini Award with a rank of Kasugo for the services rendered at the Assistance to Nationals Section (ANS) of the embassy.
The staff who had rendered services for 10, 15, 25 and 35 years at the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) were likewise recognized.
Ms. Jarifah Lomondot, wife of Consul Pendosina Lomondot, was also welcomed on the occasion. She had just arrived from Manila.
