SABIC gave away prizes to 30 drawing contest winners from intermediate, primary and KG schools at a function held in Jubail recently.

The contest was held in collaboration with the Education Services Department, Royal Commission of Jubail and Yanbu and falls within SABIC’s CSR strategy. The function was attended by a number of school principals, teachers, parents and SABIC executives.

Khalid Mohammed Al-Sufayan, SABIC Manager of Corporate Communications in the Eastern Province, expressed his happiness over SABIC’s role in organizing and supporting the competition, which the company had initiated two decades ago. The contest demonstrates SABIC’s strong determination to create a sense of awareness among the student community and society. The initiative helps in building the creative capabilities of future generations and encourages young, talented people.

Al-Sufayan added that SABIC was committed to further enhance its role as a responsible national company to meet the cultural and educational aspirations of society.

Speaking on behalf of the organizing committee, Ali Al-Qarwan, Social Activities Supervisor of the Royal Commission Schools, thanked SABIC for supporting such activities and praised the winners and the participants — 10,000 in all from 200 schools. The competition addressed important issues like, safety, health and environment.

Saleh Al-Ghamdi, a winning student, spoke on behalf of the winners and praised SABIC’s support to young Saudis.

Besides the honoring ceremony, the function included a recorded TV show on the contest and a presentation on the winning drawings. The organizing committee, the jury and education officials from the Royal Commission were honored. In addition Abdullah Al-Shaikh, a plastics artist, who was the guest of honor, was also honored. He praised SABIC’s initiative to encourage students to be creative.

An exhibition of the winning drawings was held in recognition of the creative talents of the winners at the Al-Fanateer Commercial Complex.
