JEDDAH: A 77-year-old Egyptian man died at the departure hall of King Abdulaziz International Airport (KAIA) in Jeddah after completing travel procedures to return to Egypt, while another 59-year-old Egyptian woman died shortly after boarding the plane.

According to airport sources, the Egyptian citizen had completed the Umrah and was returning to his country. Doctors determined his death as caused by heart failure.

The Egyptian woman, who also was in the Kingdom for Umrah, was heading back to Asyut on Flynas, but died shortly after boarding the aircraft before departure. Doctors determined heart failure as the cause of death in this case as well.

The bodies have been transferred to the morgue.

Sources confirm that cases of death among visitors leaving the Kingdom after completing Umrah are not uncommon, especially as the majority of them are elderly.
