RIYADH: A surgery team successfully carried out a critical and complicated operation on the lower jaw of a Yemeni national at the King Fahd Medical City in the Saudi capital recently.

The 42-year-old man was suffering from chronic decay in his lower jaw, according to Dr. Ghazi Al-Thibaiti, a Saudi microscopic surgery consultant.The patient was operated on at the expense of the Saudi government as it was carried out under a royal decree.

Earlier, the patient had undergone operations in different hospitals in three other countries — Yemen, Egypt and Turkey — but he could not be cured of his ailment.

Now, the Yemeni man has been cured and has gone back to normal life, according to online publication Sabq. For the operation, the hospital’s medical team took a bone from the patient’s leg and reshaped and transplanted it into the affected jaw.
