The Civil Defense in Baha saved the life of an 18-year-old Saudi who fell from a 20-meter high cliff in a remote area in Hajra principality on Sunday, according to Lt. Col. Abdullah Al-Dhabya, spokesman of the department.

“We dispatched a rescue and first-aid team immediately on being notified of the accident on the instructions of Maj. Gen. Ali bin Abdullah Al-Sawat, director of Civil Defense in the region,” he said.

Al-Dhabya said two more teams were sent from Jarin and Shuara to the spot located 4 km from the main road, adding that his officers had to walk through porous areas to reach the spot.

“Our teams found the man lying in the valley after falling from the cliff of a height of 20 meters,” Al-Dhabya said, adding that the young man had sustained minor injuries.

The young man was given first-aid by the Saudi Red Crescent and was taken to Qulwa General Hospital.

“We have referred the case to police to investigate the reasons for the man’s fall and his presence on the cliff,” he said.

Maj. Gen. Al-Sawat urged Saudis and residents to follow the Civil Defense’s safety instructions and keep away from dangerous spots.
