For the second straight week, Dirab Golf & Country Club will host a major event when the 8th annual Fuchs Open Golf Tournament 2014 tees off on Friday.

This marquee tournament never fails to draw participation of the city’s increasing number of golfers and Friday’s event is no exception.

A total of 110 players will tee it up during the 7 a.m. shotgun start in chase of handsome prizes in the 18-hole stroke play competition sponsored by Alhamrani Fuchs Petroleum Ltd.

Veteran Ali Balharith, captain and coach of the Saudi national team, will attend the tournament and use it as basis to track the performance of national team members, among them, Faisal Salhab, Fahad Almansour, the brothers Turki and Abdullah Hussain, and Bander Al Gubain.

As it is the club is already keeping the performance records of Saudi players as a way to help them improve in the modern game.

As the summer approaches and the weather becomes hot the DGCC will mount tournaments at random until September when normal service resumes with the Saudi National Day event, according to Golf Manager Bouchaib El Jadiani.
