Al-Ghamdi edged past Pak Saudi by 3 wickets to clinch the Moneygram six-over cricket championship title, organized by the Saudi Cricket Center in the Eastern Province recently.

Al-Ghamdi thus qualified along with KFSH Blue, Riyadh, for the Champions League to be played in Yanbu on May 24.

Pak Saudi scored 75 from the allotted overs after they won the toss. Tariq (28), Shoaib (23) and Qasim (15) were the main run-getters. Iftikhar took 2 for 9 for the bowling side.

Al-Ghamdi replied with 77 off 31 balls. Qamar Abbas (24), Nasar (18) and Iftikhar (15), helped their team triumph in the Eastern Province Cricket Association (EPCA) region.

In the semifinals, Al-Ghamdi XI won against Al Tamimi XI by 5 wickets while Pak Saudi beat Bin Dilamah ADPCO by 2 wickets.

Tamimi scored 69 for 3 as Aqeel Azad top-scored with 43. Al Ghamdi achieved victory as they posted 75 off 28 balls. Qamar Abbas stroked a match winning 53.

In the other semis, Bin Dilamah ADPCO scored 97 for 4. Nabeel was the highest scorer with 53. Pak Saudi achieved victory in the last over with a score of 98 for 3. Tariq (39) and Shoaib (32) were the main scorers.

Pak Saudi reached their target to win in the last over to make 98 for 3 as Tariq top scored with 39 and Shoaib 32.

In the quarterfinals, Al Tamimi defeated Marooj Rawan by 4 wkts, Bin Dilamah ADPCO downed Gul Stars by 17 runs, Moazzein-XI went down to Al Ghamdi by 19 runs and Pak Saudi eased past EI Plus Arabia to get into the last four.

Nadeem Nadwi, CEO (SCC), Abdulaziz Al-Naimi, chairman (EPCA) and Mohammad Nasir from Moneygram graced the occassion.

Al-Ghamdi received the winners’ check of SR 5000 while Pak Saudi got SR 2000.

Man-of-the-Tournament: Qamar Abbas for his 232 runs and 3 wickets.

Best Batsman: Aqeel Azad for 228 runs.

Best Bowler: Adnan Khan 6 for 46.

Service awards were given to the umpires and scorers. Zahid Khan, Imtiyaz and Abdi were also awarded for their untiring efforts throughout the tournament.
