RIYADH: Alinma Bank Aspire team captained by Jojo De Silva enjoyed back-to-back weeks of winning a Team of the Week and Bowler of the Week double during the 3rd and 4th sessions in the 2015 Interbank Tenpin Bowling League in Riyadh.

Their match with league leader SABB ended in a 2-2 draw but Alinma Aspire gained control of the match with 425-350 points and took home the weekly award thanks to impressive games displayed by rookie Nayef Al Saud who burned the lanes with four-game series of 866 . Al Saud was awarded with the Bowler of the Week honors. He was supported by Jerry Barce (822), De Silva (789), Abdulrahman Ahmed (715) and Angel Train (698).

Despite the loss, SABB grabbed the top spot during the third week with a 236 margin from second placer Alinma Aspire. Mohammed Abu Al Saud surprised his teammates with a four-game series of 853, the second highest score of the week. Arnold Jesena, captain Ahmed Qarquosh, Gerry Austria and Luis Bomguit contributed 780, 765, 721 and 696.

Saudi Hollandi Bank defeated defending champion Riyad Bank 340-140, as it benefitted from right manpower maneuvering of players with full handicap. The duo of veteran Clem Salazar and captain Greg Antonio led their team to victory with 809 and 748. Rookie Eckart Gayeta rolled 540 in three games while veteran Cholo Nieto, Rommel Caluncagin, Val Baraquio and Gerry Ayonon had 405, 369, 363 and 341 in two games each. Gil Hembra added 193.

Riyad Bank’s five-man team failed to produce the much-needed scratch scores to match the handicap of their opponent. Southpaw Ronald Cruz was the highest scorer on 784 followed by straight bowler Freddie Solomon 782. Veteran James Frizzle tallied 766 while Mixi Lechuga and Ric Singson had 707 and 656.

In other matches, Banque Saudi Fransi blanked SAIB 260-0 while Alinma United playing as bye posted 150 win points.

Alinma Bank Aspire grabbed the top spot from SABB in the team standings during the fourth week of the competition as they demolished sister team Alinma Bank United with a perfect score of 721 win points.

For two weeks in a row, Alinma Aspire brought home the Team of the Week and Bowler of the Week honors as Lito Tolentino delivered record breaking performance in the third game with 279 scratch score en route to a Bowler of the Week award-clinching series of 908. The equally inspired Nayef Al Saud backed up Tolentino on 839, Abdulrahman Ahmed tallied 824 while brothers Rainier and Koko Torres knocked down 816 and 763 pinfalls.

In Alinma United, the trio of Allan Ofreneo, Teody Zulaybar and captain Bobby Ting scored 795, 756 and 704 that saw them produce 141 bonus points despite the loss. They were assisted by Bernie Torres and Vic Aggregado who tallied 557 and 533 while Jun Macarandan and Deen Thassim had 169 and 152.

In other matches, SABB demolished SHB 420-30and defending champion Riyad Bank hammered BSF 155-75. SAIB playing as bye team this week registered 230 win points.

The tournament is played Monday nights at its new venue, Universal Bowling Center, in Riyadh and is sponsored by all participating banks.
