Alwani Memoni finished at the top to be crowned champions of the 2nd Toya Jeddah Squash League played at the King Fahad Coast City courts here.

In a thrilling final round, Alwani got the better of favorites Toya with just one match separating the two teams, in the league organized by Shahid Khan and sponsored by Toya, Raquet Shop and Alwani Dates.

Top players in Jeddah, Abdulelah Bashrahil, the national under-19 champ from Alwani and Toya’s Essam Al Khateeb, the No.3 in the Kingdom took part. Other top names included Hatim Al-Saigh, former national player and Zuhair Al Moosa. During the prize distribution ceremony, chief guest, Irfan Bajwa, Toya marketing manager, expressed his satisfaction with the league and said, “We look forward to supporting the next championship after the Haj break.”

Abdul Shakoor Khan, manager of Alwani, was delighted with his team’s performance in their maiden appearance. He was also impressed by the dedication shown by the teams, which ensured that all matches were played in a cordial and friendly atmosphere. Al Bilad’s, Hamid Zafar, was judged the Best Player of the tournament for his unbeaten record in the league. Grey Foxes, Waqas Moosa won the Best Captain’s award.

Shahid Khan thanked the sponsors for their support, which helped to make the game more popular in the Kingdom.
