Boleros had their sights set on reclaiming the lead after a strong performance that was rewarded with a third Team of the Week award during the 12th session in the FTBJ-ICBL 33rd Conference bowling tournament at Jeddah Lanes here.

Boleros returned the top tally of 36 points, well ahead of Hidada 34 and Sky Freight Forwarders 29.

As a result, Boleros cut the deficit from league leader Paradise Brand to a mere 3 points from 15.5 at the start of the session.

Lucky Strike followed Sky Freight on 25.5 points with Taurus on RDLR 24 and Paradise on 24.5.

Lance & 3rdy came through with 23 points followed by GM Pin Pals 22 and D’ Barkads 18.5. Alliance in Motion Global and MJ Bowlers brought up the rear on 18 and 8.5 points.

The chase for Bowler of the Week honors had Igna Salgado, team captain of Paradise Brand, and Jeanette Cerbito of Boleros winning the men’s and ladies division on 663 and 716.

Three different teams took turns at winning the four-phased race with Boleros winning two of them the second game and overall output.

Cesar Monares was chief in proving Cerbito support at Boleros with his series of 611. Luz Pagaran at 562 and Abdulaziz Aslani at 536 were the other players to go the distance. Pancho Cuevas chipped in two valuable games of 182 and 175 while Vic Pagayon added a single game 207.

First game winner Hidada got a boost from the 649 by Amro Al Amri. Nanding Siasoco was a few pins shy of 600 on 593 while Romy Bunagan had 588. From the distaff side, Hidada drew 572 from MargieVillasanta, 196-159 from Grace Siasoco and 179-172 from Pinky Acato.

Sky Freight, the third game topnotcher, got solid contributions of 652 fom Oca Bernabe and 618 from Yolly Santos. Rene Santiago and Imelda Sayago had 569 and 567 while Goying Salazar added 206-233 and Rod Morales 150.

For Taurus, the duo of Tess Marasigan and Susan Patayan delivered the lethal blows on 638 and 625 in a five-man rotation that also netted 590 from Alex Flora, 575 from Nap Patayan and 572 from Daryl Loquias.

Thanks mainly to Salgado Paradise managed to cling to the lead though the team could be under pressure with Boleros set to return the favor to the league leaders. Fuly Primo continued to spring a surprise, shooting 611 in support of Salgado, while Nick Gozun made 550. Rey Beltran tallied 199-152 and Paul Antiporda 182.
