JEDDAH: BCT-Lutong Pinoy made sure to not let the elusive first victory slip away after coming close the last time in the OSN-FTBJ 50th Open Conference bowling tournament at the Bowling City here.

Bouncing back from the disappointment of falling short behind co-Team of the Week MC Hammer and Habagat, BCT-Lutong Pinoy put together a sterling peformance to claim its first Team of the Week award.

This time Lutong Pinoy separated itself big time from its rivals to return the top tally of 47 points, a total topped only by the perfect 48 recorded byXtreme Taurus during the seventh week of this Saturday five-man team league event.

And Mohd Al Amari doubled the joy for Lutong Pinoy when he rolled the high series of 663 on lines of 258, 214 and 179 to become the Bowler of the Week.

Al Murjana was eight point adrift of Lutong Pinoy on 39 with Masaken five points further back on 34. Sky Freight-OSN was fourth on the day with 33 points followed by Habagat 27, MC Hammer 25 and D’ Barkads and Red Dragons who tied on 23.

GBI-TBBGI tallied 20 points in ninth position while Alfa Moe Yasser, Bank AlJazira Fawri and Xtreme Taurus were the last three finishers on 17, 13 and 11 points in that order.

Hammer denied what could have been a perfect night for Igna Salgado’s Lutong Pinoy squad by winning the second game and relegating Lutong Pinoy to second place.

Still Lutong Pinoy couldn’t have bowled better to post first-place points of 12 for the first and third games and overall output. Ed Sardiña and Nezar Al Hamwe shot 631 and 570 to support Al Amari, while Salgado had 221-225 and Abdul Aziz Alsani tossed in 191.

Murjana got a lift from the 601 and 595 from Rolly Vistal and Nap Patayan with Archie Santos on 579. Sharing two games each were Joey Calapatia 187-184, Elo Manalo 173-179 and Rey Beltran 201 and 210.

Masaken had the trio of Jimmy Mandingiado, Richard Manaog and Ric Reformado leading the way on 582, 564 and 557. Rene Ocampo was the other player to roll a series on 515 while Ding dela Rosa and Jay Bengco shared the remaining three games on 212-237 and 201.

For Sky Freight, the leading scorers were Ryan Conde 601, Oca Bernabe 596 and Nanding Siasoco 574.
