DUBAI: Filipino bowlers from around the world are to gather in Dubai for the inaugural World Overseas Filipino Bowling Tour (WOFBT) May 1-4.

Taking place at the world-class facilities of the Dubai International Bowling Center in Mamzar this weekend, the maiden tournament will welcome over 100 delegates from Filipino clubs based in South East Asia, Bahrain, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, Oman and the UAE.

The World Tour was established as a spin-off of the long-running regional tournaments such as the GCC All-Filipino Bowling Tour, now in its 17th year, and the Southeast Asian Overseas Filipino Bowlers Invitational Tournament which has been staged annually for the past 28 years.

The biennial WOFBT aims to bring together Philippine keglers from across the globe to elevate the sport of bowling and foster goodwill, camaraderie, and sportsmanship among Filipino expatriates.

Up for grabs during the WOFBT are titles in singles, team and masters events, with the club winning the most points to bring home the overall championship and the perpetual trophy. The Dubai Filipino Bowling Club plays host to launch this tournament, as various clubs from Asia, Europe and the Americas express interest to participate in or even host the succeeding tour leg in 2016.
