Bottom team Escalera surprised all and sundry when it posted back-to-back Team of the Week victories on a night that saw Kabayan Food knock out of top spot in the Sarawat Thursday Bowling League 9th Season at the Sultanah Center’s Bowling City here.

A week after its breakthrough team award Escalera was back in the limelight, shooting the top tally of 27 points.

OFBC was four points adrift on 23 followed by Habagat 22 and Bowling City 21.

An awfully bad night hit Kabayan as it wound up dead last on 7 and lost the lead in the process taken over by a D’ Barkads team that tied with Boleros on 17 points. Thumbs-up tallied 10 points.

Jimmy Urbano of Bowling City clinched Bowler of the Week honors after shooting the high series of 623 on lines of 196, 194 and 191.

The trio of Danny Manrisa, Ronnie De Castro and Frank Afurong struck hardest for the fast-starting Escalera, which went 1-2 in the first two games and had the top overall output despite a fifth-place finish in the third game.

Manrisa rolled a three-game series of 606, De Castro made 591 and Afurong added 580 to go with the 533 by Cesar Pagtalunan, 209-186 by Edward Butardo and 169 by Ally Bin.

OFBC, the new bowling group captained by Joel Nidoy, drew rounds of 582 from Jerry Carredo, 565 from Fred Cuenca and 560 from Ric Tibayan. Rudy Jamon carded 168-169, Nidoy 161-243 and Toto Lim 183.

Jimmy Aragones shot 605 to be the main man at Habagat, which also received 577 from Ver Jasa, 572 from Richard Antonio, 514 from Hadi Pacheo, 155-162 from Jun De Dios and 178 from George Mangaliman.

Besides Urbano the other scorers at Bowling City were Jeff San Pedro 562, Archie Santos 546, Pancho Cuevas 191-185, Hero Garcia 176-148 and Edu Toledo 168-183.

Rey Beltran top-scored for D’ Barkads on 576 with James Galvan on 572 and Romy Bunagan on 551. Two games each from Nap Patayan 189-222, Dan Edbave 154-155 and Bing Amolo 132-153 rounded out D’ Barkads scoring.

The duo of Jess Cerbito and Cesar Monares led Boleros on 585 and 555.
