RIYADH: The FBGR-Almarai Sunday Bowling League held its awards night for the 14th Conference then segued into the start of the 15th Conference in twin events at the Universal Bowling Center here.

Champion team Rotunda led the awardees during the ceremony graced by chief guest Khalid Asiri representing league sponsor Almarai Company. Asiri handed out the awards with FBGR (Filipino Bowling Group of Riyadh) officers led by Chairman Emerson Mitra.

Rey Bautista is the Rotunda team captain and the members are Rocky Manipon, Joe Garrido, Edwin Atienza, Ernee Noto, Ronald Bautista, Rodel Maranca, Ruel Pingol and Pines Pingol.

KC Enriquez’s Minions was awarded first runner-up. With Enriquez on the team are Irene Pua, Dong Yamco, Jao Urbano, Dee Urbano, Benito Santos, Koko Torres, Donjie Mapalad, Vicky Vitug and Bernie Asis.

The second runner-up prize went to Nadec Strokers of Lope Ramirez. Jove Marano, Reynald Medina, Atoi Ramos, Ruben Babasa, Danny Nabong, Frank Ranera, Blessy Bautista and Anne Marano are team members.

In the team awards, Rotunda claimed high series scratch and high series with handicap, Nadec took home high game with handicap and high game scratch.

In individual awards, Prince Muhammad bin Saud captured the high series with handicap and high series scratch, Irene Pua high game with handicap and Ernee Noto high game scratch.

Noto was also named the league Most Valuable Player with Erwin Atienza Most improved Player.

Champion in the Battle of Elite I was Fhel Ramos, Stephen Solomon first runner-up and Noto second runner-up.

In Battle of Elite II the champion was Cheche Villanueva, Dong Yamco is first runner-up and Ed Cruz second runner-Up. In the Battle of Noble C & D the champion was Pua, Dee Urbano 1st runner-Up and Ric Ventura 2nd runner-up. Also, Noto received a special award for his perfect 300 game.

Thales, Prince Muhammad steal show in 15th Conference opener

Thales of Nelson De Vera was first off the blocks as the Best Team of the Week with Prince Muhammad bin Saud getting the first crack as Best Bowler of the Week accolade during the 1st week of the Almarai-FBGR Sunday Bowling League15th Conference.

Prince Muhamad scorched the lanes with 277, 221, 234 and 210 points in a sterling performance that earned him the Best Bowler of the Week while leading Thales to a 22-14 victory over King Pasyal of Ronald Bautista. Providing support to the prince were Cheng Lambo 924, Ryan Inigo 836 and Celis Viloria 821 points.

For King Pasyal at the helm was Bautista 894, Erwin Atienza 821 and Koko Torres 818, while Marvin Arocena added 410 and Joel Batolina 378.

Alinma Bank mentored by Abdulrahman Ahmed whipped FBGR-Nurlac of Emerson Mitra 22-7. Rasheed Rasheedan carded 902 points while veteran Abdulla Baba Amoudi had 876, Mike Ecalnir 792 and Jobert Pomado 734. Little Giant Jojo Paciano led the losing team on 781, Rico Feria 756, Omar Valdez 755, Rizal Dellosa 394 Angel Caasi 36.

SACO mentored by Jim Dela Rosa recorded a 22-6 victory against Almarai Co. of Jun Daniel. Leading scorers on SACO were Steve Perez 856, Stephen Solomon 826 and Dennis Durenz 806 while Buddy Balisi had 410 and Dela Rosa 353.

In another match, defending champion Rotunda of Rey Bautista blanked the rookie team, Bankers, of Rudy Flores, 4-0 (18-7 points). Ruel Pingol led the team with 790 points and he was supported by Rodel Maranca on 680. Joe Garrido contributed 436, Ernee Noto 411, Rocky Manipon 402 ad Edwin Atienza 378 points.
