Fireberks tasted their third victory against Pattaya team in a very exciting game 77-76 in the OFBL (Overseas Filipino Basketball League) 5th Conference at the Timeout gymnasium on Television St., Ghulail District on the outskirts of Jeddah.

The tournament is played Thursdays and Fridays with REDTAG the Friday Morning League games sponsor and Citymax for the evening session.

Pattaya boys at the outset surprised their opponents touted as one of the powerhouse teams in the league.

After trailing for most of the first three quarters Fireberks made a run late in the third period courtesy of their big guys Versoza and the Reyes brothers and Mangalindan.

Versoza made his presence felt in the shaded area, blocking shots and grabbing offensive and defensive rebounds. Mangalindan scored 29 points including 6 consecutive 3-point baskets while the Reyeses combined for 30 points.

Fireberks were in the lead midway in the fourth period only for Pattaya to wrest the initiative anew at 73-72 on a jumper by Egam and two baskets by Joven Batuan.

But Reyes brothers showed toughness in defense and they scored two threes and two fast break layups to put Fireberks back in front with 12 seconds to play. Pattaya had a chance to tie the score but Ballinan missed his jumper for them to lose the game.

Also, Jamjoom Pharma roared to its fourth consecutive win not giving Toyota Yaris any chance in the 75-71 final score.

Yaris never had a taste of the lead all game long to underscore the fact that Jamjoom is pretty much capable of winning against Toyota in this conference.

Gemino, Abulencia and Abella used all in their arsenal to give Jamjoom victory and the top spot in Bracket C .

Gemino, displaying daredevil moves to outfox defenders, scored 21 points. Abulencia scored 13 points even with an injured left leg while Abella had 9 points while playing good defense.

Meanwhile, Yummy Yummy brought down Nesma Holdings 77-74 to lead the Bracket B Division with a 4-1 card.

Romero top-scored with 20 points at Yummy Yummy. Cervantes added 11 points and Faurillo had 9.

For Nesma, Callueng had 28 points and Alberta 14.

In the Evening Division, Unicorp edged Fitaihi 78-77.

The trio of Carieno, Vargas and Makatangkay scored 20, 18 and 9 points at the helm of Unicorp. Carbonel and Sarsona each tallied 11 points and Reyes added 10 for Fitaihi.

In the Non-rated Division, Awdah won against NCB 89-82 with Sanchez leading the way with 25 points. Toledo scored 22 point and Fuentes 12 point for the losing team.

Encabo scored 23 point and Marmay 16.
