After winning their respective semifinals matches, Green and team Violet will face each other in the championship match of the Samahang Pinoy Tennis Club’s (SPTC) initial in-house offering for this year.

Played in the club’s home court at the King Abdul Aziz University tennis courts in Jeddah every weekend, the current tournament is dubbed SPTC Chairman’s Cup, by the New Generation.

Top-ranked Green battled No. 4 Yellow in the final four. Starting out the first set was the 8-0 win by Moi Noto and Mahdi Guna Mahyuddin against Yellow’s Pio Coronado and Lino Bautista. In the second set, Zakir Abdulghane could not cope up with the experience and mastery of the veteran Ben Micu and eventually lost 2-8 to put the match on a 1-1 score. In the deciding third set, Jun Tomas and Ellie Baltar proved the more consistent pair as they survived the scare of Joe Fabia and Haji Pilongo to secure the win for Green and grab the first finals seat.

Second-ranked Violet won against third-ranked Orange 2-1 as they started hot with Marlon Pagsanjan and Celso Abella dishing an 8-0 blanking of their opponents Oscar Lovitos and Tahir Suryadi to post a 1-0 lead. In the second set singles play, Lito Bentulan could not match the play of Best Singles Player awardee Mario Betorio as he lost 2-6 to put the match at a 1-1 stand still. Moving on the third set decision, Erwan Nurlawis and Hamza Rik Maulion coasted to an 8-2 win against a game opponent in Saiful Anwar and Edmund Bacalando to win the set and the match at 2-1 and book their ticket to the championship round against Green.

After five rounds in the eliminations Green emerged top on 4-1 followed by Violet on identical 4-1 record but settled for No. 2 by virtue of winner-over-the-other rule having lost to Green. The third spot went to Orange on 3-2 win-loss and fourth place was taken by Yellow on 2-3 card. Fifth and sixth positions were taken by Red and Blue respectively.

This team tennis tournament is organized by the officers and members of the Samahang Pinoy Tennis Club (SPTC) under the stewardship of its chairman, Marlon Pagsanjan, with logistical support by Astec adviser Bernie Soguilon and SPTC adviser Cesar Quilenderino.
