RIYADH: Syed Waqar Ahmed’s brilliant knock of 116 runs helped Gujranwala coast to a four-wicket win over Konkan Green in the fourth week of the RCL Sikandar Farooqui Memorial T20 cricket tournament, sponsored by Saudi Cricket Center and organized by Riyadh Cricket League at the RCL Complex here.

The other highlights of the day were, Syed Shajiuddin dazzling 80 for Deccan Stars, good bowling by Karachi Titan’s Imran Khan (4 wickets) and fine all-round performances by Samarwa’s Abubaker (62, 2 wickets) and Cricketers Club’s Ahmed Saeed (38 runs, 2 wickets).

Konkan batted first and set Gujranwala a target of 212 runs. Imran was in good form and made 61 runs. He was supported by Moazzam (35), Mansoor (37) and Manoj (30).

In reply Gujranwala were home after 19.1 overs. Usman Ashraf (56) was the other batsman who impressed for the winners. Naeem of Konkan took 2 wickets.

In the best match of the day, Deccan Stars scored a thrilling one-wicket win over Diamond who put up a total of 171 runs. Hyder (43), Waseem (37), Umar (19) and Imran Ghani (17) were the main contributors. Aamir took 2 wickets for the bowling side.

In reply Deccan Stars reached their target off last ball of the match. Besides Syed Shajiuddin match winning innings Bashar contributed 22 runs. Amjad and Umar of Diamond CC took 3 wickets each while Aamir took 2 wickets.

In another match, Cricketers Club batted first and put on board 161 runs against Karachi Titans. Thanks to Zeeshan Malik’s (46) and Ahmar Saeed’s (38).

Imran Khan and Saleem Jafar did most of the damage and took 4 wickets.

In reply Karachi Titans tried their best but fell short by 9 runs as they managed 152 runs. Waheed Anjum took 3 wickets while Salman Siraj and Ahmar shared 4 wickets.

Later, Samarwa put up a match winning total of 223 runs. Openers Aamir (54) and Abubaker (62) scored 82 runs off the first six overs. Zaffer propped up the innings later with a fine 42.

In reply National went down without a fight and were bundled out for 125. They lost the match by 98 runs. Abubaker, Ahsan and Tasaduq took 2 wickets.

Elsewhere, Gamepro batted first and put on board 168 runs against Evergreen. Dilshad and Majid scored 45 and 35 runs respectively. All the other batsmen were failed to put up a decent fight and caved in tamely.

In reply Evergreen reached the winning total off 17 overs to win the match by 6 wickets. Khawar Malik was in good form and scored an unbeaten 87 runs with the help of 11 fours and 1 six. He was supported by Aqeel’s 22. Usman (16), Haroon (15) and Taj Khan (13) were the other contributors.
