JEDDAH: Islamic Development Bank Group scored a thrilling two-wicket win over Al-Rajhi Aviation to lift the GBEST trophy in the inaugural Inter-Institutions cricket tournament, held at the bank’s Green Lawn ground on Friday.

The Aviation team were put into bat first by their rivals and set up a challenging total of 112 runs from the stipulated 12 overs.

Zeeshan was the highest scorer with 29 runs followed by Izhar (17) and Raziuddin (12).

Muzammil, Shoaib, Hamza Hashmi and Siddiq Zafar took a wicket each for the bankmen.

In reply, IDB-Group made it look very simple and achieved their target off 11.3 overs. Thanks to Mohammed Shoib, who top-scored with 43 runs. Muzammil Riyaz supported his with a well-made 25 runs. IDB’s task was made easier as the wayward rival bowlers contributed 27 runs in the form of extras.

Waqas impressed with his bowling and bagged 3 wickets. Izhar, Ameen and Enam chipped in with a wicket each.

The final was witnessed by H.E. Ahmed Tiktik, IDB-Group vice president, Mohammed Abdallah, Baghdadi, (sponsor and director of GBEST), Rahimi (Director ASD), Abdul Mohsin Al-Shourain, Tariq and Mohammed Al-Syed (Managers – ITD).
