Idol secured the Team of the Week award but to Sky Freight-TFC went the league leadership after it outpointed erstwhile No. 1 AFM-Moe during the 15th week in the Qatar Airways-AFTBL 48th Open Conference bowling tournament at Jeddah Lanes here.

Idol posted the top tally of 40 points as it clinched its breakthrough Team of the Week victory in the Saturday night league event.

Behind by 1 point at the start of the session, Emy de Guzman’s Sky Freight squad mustered 35 points to AFM-Moe’s 30 to end the reign of the latter at the top of the team standings. Led by Majid Aslani with 622, Jeddah Lanes registered 37 points in second place.

Habagat carded 27 points with MC Hammer six points adrift on 21. Jeddah 5K and FTBJ-Jem tallied 19 and 18 points respectively, while Lipton Chai Latte, Bank AlJazira and Taurus occupied the last three places on 17, 13.5 and 6.5 in that order.

Jimmy Mandingiado made it an Idol double when he grabbed the Bowler of the Week award after shooting the high series of 660 on lines of 178, 235 and 199.

Save for the third game where it took fourth place Idol was pretty much in control all night long as it won the first game and overall output and placed second in the second game.

Dan Ednave and Jess Pineda provided strong support to Mandingiado with solid rounds of 660 and 568, while Nanding Siasoco, Bash Langa and Tom Langa each contributed two games of 215-165, 201-188 and 160-176.

That the No. 1 was sealed and delivered for Sky Freight was mainly because of the trio of Oca Bernabe 614, Bonnie Garcia 612 and James Galvan 568.

Pancho Cuevas returned pair of 189s while Rene Santiago and Cris Villavelez likewise contributed two games of 180-204 and 203-213.

George Mangaliman was two pins short of 600 in leading Habagat which had two others going the distance in Med Ramos 550 and Edu Toledo 543. Leo Edejer added 167-169, Manny tibay 166-192 and Richard Antonio 166-178.

MC Hammer used a five-man scoring team that Amro Al Amri led on 583 followed by Melvin Lising 566, Jhun Estefano 563 and Robert Bato 500.
