JEDDAH: Magnolia Ice Cream became the proud owner of a first perfect double in a performance heard round the bowling community during the 14th session of the Sarawat Superstores Thursday Bowling League 13th Season Bowling City in Sultanah Center.

This rare sweep of the honors with a perfect score of 36 points puts Magnolia’s title-retention bid firmly on track with less than two months left in the five-man team competition that meets Thursday nights.

Leading from the front, team captain Igna Salgado shot a tournament-best series of 728 to clinch Bowler of the Week honors while helping Magnolia, the champion in the last conference then under the colors of Al Kabeer Frozen Foods, to its third Team of the Week victory.

BCT-Hokbi Fashion came in a distant second to Magnolia on 29 points followed by Habagat 27, league-leading Al Murjana 24 and Sawary Energy 20 points.

RJ Tumbador tallied 18 points in sixth place on the night, a week after securing what was actually its second team award having won its first on opening night of the tournament.

D’ Barkads, AL Striker and Carling Sport Wear brought up the rear on 14, 8 and 4 points in that order.

Salgado was in the zone despite having to divide his time playing and league organizing, shooting games of 216, 266 and 246 as Magnolia swept the first-place points of 9 on offer for the three games and overall output.

Mohd. Al Amri and Daryl Loquias backed up Salgado on 660 and 575. Jay-R de Dios and Jowett Carrion tossed in valuable games of 229-210 and 200-203 while Bander Al Dosarry added 176-203.

The trio of Paul Antiporda, Rey Beltran and Nanding Siasoco led BCT-Hokbi on 664, 573 and 533. Contributing two games each were Ding dela Rosa 267-231, Yasser Hokbi 170-213 and Nezar Al Hamwi 177-195.

For Habagat the big numbers came from the troika of Jimmy Aragones, Richard Antonio and Manny Tibay who rolled 630, 623 and 605. Rommel Cagampang added 201-182, Edu Toledo 154-223 and Edriss Mangoda 183-159.

Murjana built its total mainly around Ruel Santoc 643, Mhon Laxamana 604 and Jojie Manalansan 596 with help from Archie Santos 214-233, Jay Bengco 156-161 and Rene Ocampo 150-158.

Jimmy Urbano, Reggie Menoza and Alex Flora were the leading scorers at Sawary on 647, 592 and 569.
