JEDDAH: Masaken has the Team of the Week award and the lead all at once thanks to a rock-solid showing in the 9th session of the 35th FTBJ-ICBL Sky Freight Forwarders League at the Bowling City here.

Masaken pooled the day’s best of 45 points that none came close to matching. Zaldy Bacero even doubled the joy for Masaken when he shot the high series of 693 to become the men’s Bowler of the Week.

Ceebee Aviation and previous week honoree Sky Freight-OSN tied on 40 points, five points adrift of Masaken, while Sadafco totaled 33 and failed to stop a Masaken takeover at first place of the team standings.

Al Murjana came through with 30 points. There were further ties on 24 points between D’ Barkads and Par Excellence and on 16 between ICBL Mix Insert and Steelers, which were behind Hidada 23.

Sagmit Dental Clinic and Rock N Roll were the last two teams of the session on 13 and 8 points respectively.

To Thess Grandia of D’ Barkads went the ladies Bowler of the Week on 624 (221, 161 and 158).

Masaken stepped on the gas after a slow start to win the last two games and overall output en route to the top total.

Bacero fired scratch games of 268, 201 and 224 at the helm of the Masaken onslaught that saw Jeanette Cerbito and Lourdes Punzalan score 599 and 541 from the distaff side. The other contributions were from Paolo Allego 259-195, Rey Beltran 201-212 and Mhon Laxamana 199-196.

Sky Freight enjoyed successive weeks of strong performances with the trio of Goying Salazar, Bonnie Garcia and Oca Bernabe all within their average or better to card 673, 633 and 627. Babes Tiongson and Yolly Santos contributed 589 and 549 in a five-man team gambit.

Ceebee had Danny Bautista and Pancho Cuevas showing the way on 657 and 604 with the ladies duo of Aisah Silabay and Charrie Guzman scoring 589 and 546. Ryan Conde had 246-194 and Frank Afurong 190 to round out the scoring.

Its hold on No.1 has been consistently under threat and Sadafco this time was tagged despite pretty solid numbers from Edwin Ronquillo 630, Andy Yumena 616 and Igna Salgado 604.

Jojie Manalansan top-scored for Murjana at 637. May Lourdes and Susan Patayan tallied 601 and 580. Sharing two games each were Roger Daquioag 177-210, Nap Patayan 202-208 and Jess Pineda 178-165.
