After taking over the No. 1 spot three weeks ago, Oryx Jets pulled away from the chasing pack after another Team of the Week award-winning display during the 15th session in the FTBJ-ICBL 31st Conference bowling tournament at Jeddah Lanes here.

The award was the seventh for the rampaging league leader Oryx in a string that saw only three times in the last 10 weeks where another outfit had won — Oriana Akiera Sato on the 11th and 12th weeks and Hidada on the 14th week.

Using a fast start, Oryx Jets returned the top tally of 41 points, well in front of Hidada which pooled 37 points.

Lance & Thirdy and Oriana had matching cards of 35 points with erstwhile leader Nasser Al-Hajri on 32 and Jem Strikers on 30.

Sky Freight-TFC pooled 27 points followed by Taurus RDLR and D’ Barkads on 24 and 20. Pin Slashers and Avengers brought up the rear on 12 and 4 points.

The individual race for Bowler of the Week had Imelda Sayago of Sky Freight and Taurus’ Susan Patayan sharing the ladies plum on identical series of 578 and Ruel Santoc claiming the men’s accolade after shooting the high series of 674 on lines of 191, 223 and 215.

After winning the first game Oryx saw its rivals for honors drop out, chief among among them Hidada, which slumped to a 10th place finish in the third game after going 2-1 in the first two games.

Oryx did well simply by using a single set of five players led by Majid Aslani who drilled 672 on lines of 225, 268 and 179.

Igna Salgado was equally solid in support of Aslani on 613. Rolly Vistal added 599 and from the distaff side Marie Gumpal posted 588 while Jeanette Cerbito tallied 508.

Amro Al-Amri and Pinky Acato produced the big rounds at Hidada on 664 and 616 to go with the 557 by Romy Bunagan, 537 by Grace Siasoco, 161-195 by Nanding Siasoco and 145 by Jun Palacios.

Along with Santoc the others that contributed to the Lance cause were Eidris Mangoda 618, Shirley Sagmit 589, Marcelo Manalo and Jana Felismena 227-179.

Over at Oriana Ed Labuac backed up Santoc with his 589 while Matet Cavite and Margie Villasanta added 553 and 508. Cesar Monares took charge at Nasser on 628 with the ladies pair of Merlen Pamintuan and Len-len Berina on 551 and 531.

The duo of Jeff San Pedro and Jess Pineda led Jem Strikers on 621 and 600 with Jessica Fuentes on 545 and Che Bautista on 517.
