YANBU: Pak Shaheen outplayed Al-Tuwairqui by 43 runs to win the MoneyGram Cricket Ke Badshah Champions League Twenty20 final at the Royal Commission ground, here.

Al-Tuwairqui won the toss and invited their rivals to make first use of the Astro Turf track. Pak Shaheen, which plays in the Riyadh Cricket Association league, showed no nervousness and plundered 198 for 8 from their allotted overs. Abrarul Haq top scored with 53 runs. Abdul Wahab (37), Abdul Qadir (40) and Yasser (31) were instrumental in the big score. Ather was the most impressive bowler and claimed 5 for 27.

Faced with an uphill task of chasing almost 10 runs per over Al-Tuwairqui lost wickets at regular intervals and managed 154 for 7. Tajammul (38), Rizwan (34) and Nawed (29) tried to make a fight of it but fell well short of their target. Fahad and Abdul Wahab bagged 3 wickets each. Abdul Wahab was adjudged Man-of-the-Match.

In the semifinals played a day earlier at the Western Province Cricket Association Eskan ground in Jeddah, My Care Hala from WPCA lost to Al-Tuwairqui by 7 wickets while in the other semis Pak Shaheen routed Al- Maozzen by 50 runs.

In the first semis My Care Hala made first use of the track and were bowled out for 120. Khawar Sohail did most of the damage and ripped through the rival batting line-up and had figures of 4 for 35. Waqas chipped in with 2 wickets. Moazzam (20) and Tariq (26) were the only two batsmen who put up some resistance. Al Tuwairqui in reply achieved their target of 123 for 3, which came off 70 balls.

In the other semis, Pak Shaheen, who were invited to bat first by Al-Moazzen, put on board 179 runs. Abdul Waheed (27), Abrarul Haq (30), Ateeque (23) and Fahad (21) were the main run getters. Aaquib and Shoaib claimed 2 wickets each. Al-Maozzen in reply were bundled out for 129. Inayat (29) and Zahiruddin (25) did their best. Abdul Salam grabbed 3 for 11 runs, as Abdul Waheed, Abdul Wahab and Ateeque claimed 2 wickets each. Pakistan’s star batsman Umar Akmal was the chief guest and handed over the winner’s trophy to Pak Shaheen skipper Abdul Wahab along with a cash prize of or SR 10,000.

Al Tuwairqui captain received the runner-up cup and a cash prize of SR 5000.

Abdul Wahab, the Man-of-the-Final won cash award of SR 1000 and a kit bag. Ather of Al-Tuwairqui won the Best bowler’s award and SR 1000 along with a kit bag. Pak Shaheen’s Abdul Waheed was adjudged the Best Batsman award along with SR 1000 and kit bag.

Yousaf Tarrek, Khalid Harrah, Nadeem Nadwi and Akram Qureshi, president YACA graced the occasion with officials of regional cricket associations.

The umpires and scorers were also were given awards.
