Reza Chemical moved within a victory of completing an 8-game title sweep in the Inter-Company Non-Rated Evening Division by beating Sadafco 85-80 at the start of their best-of-three championship series in the OFBL 5th Conference at Timeout Sports Academy Gymnasium on Television St. , Ghulail District on the outskirts of Jeddah.

Rabya likewise got its separate series for the Inter-Company Bonafide B Division against Bahra Cables off to a winning start, 80-79 in overtime.

Elsewhere in the tournament that enters its last three weeks, Toyota set up a championship showdown with Jamjoom Pharma with a 90-88 victory over Alwajan in the Friday Morning Group C Division, while Patriots and Grain Silos face off for the Inter-Company Non-Rated Group B Evening Division after Patriots shot down Almarai 70-50.

Reza hit the first five points of the game and stayed in control allowing Sadafco only to close within five points at 37-42 after building an 11-point lead at 40-29 as Abulencia scored 26 points, Reloj added 15 and Gemino 14 points.

Cutamura and Dangao led Sadafco with 29 and 24 points respectively.

With the game tied at 69-69 on a basket by Bahra’s Andales, Rabya had a chance to win the game in regulation period but Orque missed both free throws after he was fouled with 5 seconds to play while driving to the basket, forcing overtime.

Salud tallied 24 points, Hauylyn made 18, Eleuterio added 11 and Bolacano had 9 points for Rabya.

The defeat spoiled a 49-point performance by Bahra’s top scorer Andales.

Toyota battled back from an early 14-point deficit at 32-18 in the first quarter to get the win against Alwajan.

From 64-58 lead to end the third period, Toyota took charge in the fourth quarter thanks mainly to Llamado who scored 15 points and De Costo with 16 as Alwajan collapsed offensively in the period.

Dorado topscored with 24 points for Toyota followed by De Costo 20 and Llamado 18 points while Arana and Mohammed each had 14 points.

Alwajan had Bedizon scoring 24 points, Burgos 16, Castillo 15 and Manalo 8 points.

Patriots dominated an overmatched Almarai side using its speed, agility, game smarts and teamwork to reach the final.

“We came out strong and played well defensively, from start to finish. We stuck together as a team, everyone had their share and I was satisfied,” Patriots coach F said.
