The best-of-three finals in all four divisions ended in a sweet sweep with Samsung’s victory the sweetest of them all.

Samsung completed a 10-game sweep of the Inter-Commercial Open Rated Division with a 79-70 victory over Jeddah United in the second game of their best-of-three championship series recently that brought down the curtains on the 1st LBC-Liga Pinoy Basketball Tournament at Ahmad Khaki Sports Complex (Orca) basketball court on Tahlia Street here.

Jeddah Friends set the tone of the finals. After being dragged to a double overtime in the title series opener in the Inter-Commercial Open Non-Rated A Division, Jeddah Friends had a convincing 88-74 clinching victory over KFAFH with Den Den Amir and Ismael delivering the big blows with 22 and 20 points.

In the Inter-Commercial Non-Rated B Division, Sibuconians likewise enjoyed a championship via a sweep, beating Bacolod Kalawinians 74-70 thanks mainly to the trio of Naffy Abubakar, Mamang and Wahid who scored 17 points and 12 apiece respectively.

Thursday was set for Game 2 in the Toyota JAFC Division and Open Rated with a Friday option should there be a third game in the series in either of the division.

No such extension. Surviving a relentless game from ALJ Mega Al Jawhara, ALJ Madinah Road scored a thrilling 80-77 victory that gave it the championship crown.

In Thursday’s second game, Samsung stepped on the gas in the last two quarters to assert its mastery over Jeddah United, getting critical threes from Ron Magat and Morsie Akad to secure the victory and complete an unbeaten run to the title under the guidance of head coach Gary Santos and team manager Francis Magat.

Robby David was Best Player of the game with 21 points. Akad and Magat each tallied 17 points.

After the Samsung-Jeddah United game the awarding ceremony took place with Liga Pinoy Commissioner James Roxas handing out the trophies and prizes to the winners.
