DHAHRAN: The 18th Federation Cup Invitational doubles badminton tournament organized by Badminton Federation in collaboration with Dhahran Badminton Association came to a successful end last Saturday at Junior High & IBIS indoor courts here.

Over 500 players from Riyadh and Eastern Province competed in this mega event.

Players from various nationalities of India, Philippines, Indonesia, Malaysia, Canada , US, China and Pakistan took part in the two days event.

In the men’s Premier Flight, Shahim Koothradan and Wahid Salahuddin were the winners of the champion trophy beating opponents from Riyadh Derric Gonzales and Koh Liang Feng.

Ladies Flight 1 champions were Jennivie Moreno-Abigail Alar and runners up were Sandra Sakaria-Deena Saby in round robin competition. The mixed doubles championship went to Andrei Nucom and Jennivie Moreno and the runners-up were Rolando Hipolito-Baimen Lahod.

BFSA President George PuthenMadhom congratulated all the winners and runners up and thanked the tournament sponsors.

Surendaran Nair, DBA president, along with his committee supported BFSA in hosting this event at DBA indoor courts. Trophies to the winners and runners up were awarded by BFSA & DBA officials. Henry Gonzales from Riyadh helped facilitate sponsorship for this event.

The major sponsors of Badminton Federation for the year 2014 were ERAM Group, Lulu Hypermarket EP, Ajab Al Falleah , Al Saady Trading & Soil Stabilization Co, Stars Forklift Trading, Nasico, Sinmar Group and Dadabhai Travel.

N. Lakshmaiah, Saban Babu and Rejee Peter are tournament directors.
