Steelers team, captained by Richard Antonio, unleashed its best to snap FB Rhinos and bring home the championship of the FEDBG Friday PM Cuadro Bowling League at the Bowling City here.

In a fast start, Nezar Alhamwi seared the lanes with a leading score of 223 that complemented Antonio’s effort of 205.

This determined parallel performance seemed to weaken opponents’ resolve especially with Renato Gonzales and Grace Funtilon in full support of the Steelers duo. Funtilon contributed 195 and Gonzales shared 177 in Steelers’ championship run on final tallies of 803-773.

The match actually hung in the balance at the start as FB Rhinos have an advantage in handicap at 125-76. But Steelers had twice-to-beat privilege equalizer.

FB Rhinos also has the momentum after surviving the playoff over Galema, Team Zuma and Lucky Strike then beating Juraifani and All Star in the 3-team race wherein they totaled 817 from Melo Amano (233), Minda Guevarra (216), Rene Balangue (164) and team chief engineer Rod Lofamia (191) during the first stepladder match. The same FB lineup easily finished off undermanned Star Eagles to face top qualifier Steelers for the championship.

But individual experience gave Steelers the upper hand. FB Rhinos had Guevarra with a sustained production at 204 but then Amano, Balangue and Lofamia could only compile 190, 189 and 191, good for their first runner-up finish.

Taking third place in this tournament are Star Eagles with Juraifani fourth and former champion All Star fifth.
