United Doctors Hospital tasted victory but not after going through a double overtime before putting away Al Yanabie 92-91 in a thrilling game in the 2014 OFBL 5th Conference basketball tournament at Time-out Gymnasium on Television Street, Ghulail District on the outskirts of Riyady.

This Friday Morning League and Evening Division games are sponsored by Red Tag and City Max under the auspices of Overseas Filipino Basketball League and in cooperation with Al Zugbi Sports Tailoring.

The victory gives UDH the third semifinal spot in the Inter-Company Bonafide C behind outright semifinalists Hidada and Rabya. The fourth and last berth is a toss-up between Baras and STC, which face off next week in another crossover game.

The game was touch-and-go up until the waning seconds. Down by 2 points, 91-89, UDH got the biggest lift from Alidio who fired the game winning three with three seconds to play in the heart-stopping contest.

Alidio brought the ball downcourt and with no fear and hesitation drained the biggest basket of the game.

The first overtime ended 71-71 on a three-poiner by Monding.

In the second overtime, Yanabie appeared to be in control but UDH never gave up to the end.

Alidio finished with 28 points and Atienza had 18. Monding led the losers with 30 points, Viscayno tossed in 21 and Garcia poured in 19 points.

New entrant Patriot scored its second victory against the Jeddah Falcon team 91-82.

Carazig tallied 20 points including 6 consecutive threes while also making his presence felt in the shaded area, blocking shots and getting offensive and defensive rebounds. Patriot’s big guy Razon hit his stride in the fourth quarter and helped his team get the lead. Cutamora added 18 points.

Also winning a crucial game was Saudi Oger which took some doing before beating RSGT 85-78.

Saudi Oger was considered underdog against RSGT and they were behind by 10 points until the fourth quarter of the game.

Jason had 18 points, Castrol added 14 points and had 12 assist and 8 rebounds for Oger. Libril and Cuenco each scored 14 points for Oger which moved up to fourth in the team standings.

The defeat left RSGT with a crucial game on Friday.

The scorers for RSGT were Yokabats 23 points, Amezo 18 and Veloso 8.

Meanwhile, in the Evening Division, Jameel Renewed won its crossover game against NCB 110-89 thanks mainly to the tiro of Jama, Barry and Rnil who scored 36, 21 and 11 points in that order.
