Jeddah Selection member Leo Tablante used his wide and strong body to pound his way inside to the hoop and scored 17 points to lead Ulker to fifth straight victory, 73-69 against PSF while ex-Purefoods PBA player Boyet Bautista top-scored with 25 points as Samco beat Jeddah Road Warriors 97-89 to also remain unbeaten in the Perfetto Basketball Tournament 2013 organized by Industrial Sports Association (ISA) at Industrial City Dawa Office (ICDO) court in Industrial City Phase I on the outskirts of Jeddah.

Tablante showed tremendous basketball skills on both ends of the court all night long to win the best player award. He got support from Tapado and Roxas who combined for 23 points while Alberio added 7 points along with his deffensive skills on the backcourt for Ulker. Carlo Morada almost single-handedly carried PSF with 27 points.

Ittihad player Khaled scored 24 points while his three other teammates combined for 53 points but still the Road Warriors fell short in light of the big game dished out by Bautista.

Lanky Joseph Ubalde supported Bautista with 20 points while Yutoc and Reyes had 21 points between them.

Struggling Jotun Paints finally tasted victory, 101-100, at the expense of erstwhile unbeaten Samahang Ilokano, who are widely considered the team to beat in the Inter-Company Reinforced Division.

But on this night Jotun Paints had the Ilokano’s number thanks in large part to the deadly trio of Nemitz Dangao, James Bonion and Nalagon. Dangao scored 35 big points to become best player of the game, while Bonion and Nolagon each scored 23 markers.

Coach Bernardo told his boys to play hard and don’t give up because it is still possible for us to get into the next round even we are at the bottom of the standings. “Just play and win the remaining games in the tournament,” he said.

Caguioa, Erik Mabarit and Brian Bulacan of Fuji Elevator played well and showed tremendous defense to power their team to its first victory in he tournament, 87-80 against sponsor team Perfetto.

Caguioa finished the night with 30 points, Mabarit had 21 and Bulacan 15.

Hussain scored 24 points, Bien added 22 and Batioco 14 points for Perfetto. — With input from Janus Napuecas Gella
