The Ministry of Social Affairs has deposited SR 136.05 million in the accounts of beneficiaries of the social security program Cash Assistance for Food for the current Hijri month of Safar.
The size of a family benefiting from the cash assistance program for food varies to reach 15 members as stipulated by a royal decree and a decision made by the Ministry of Finance, which allocated SR 4.5 billion to activate the social security programs, a spokesman for the ministry was quoted by the Saudi Press Agency as saying.
He said the Cash Assistance for Food Program is one of seven programs aimed to support needy families.
The remaining six programs cover home furnishing, school supplies, paying part of electricity bills, health insurance, production projects, and home restoration projects. The programs are separate from regular monthly benefits, he said.
Eligible beneficiaries of the social security program include widows, orphans, abandoned family members, and people with temporary or permanent debilitating health conditions and disabilities.
