A 16-year-old boy died when he fell off a mountainous cliff in Madinah on Thursday.
Col. Khaled Mubarak Al-Juhani of Madinah Civil Defense Department said the agency received the accident report at 5 p.m.
The teenager was photographing nearby waterfalls from a more than 15-meter-high mountainous cliff in Al-Madiq village of Madinah’s Wadi Al-Fara region. He slipped and fell into the waterfall. A rescue team from Wadi Al-Fara extracted the body and it is now with Madinah authorities.
Heavy rains fell on Madinah and adjacent regions during the same period as the accident, although the rains were not responsible for the death.
Al-Juhani told Arab News there were no casualties reported in mild to moderate flooding of streets and wadis. He warned residents against getting close to valleys and flood courses.
