Toyota goes sporty with all-new 86

Abdul Latif Jameel Company (ALJ) introduced the all-new Toyota 86 on Wednesday night, which is claimed to be the most compact four-seater sports car available.
The unveiling took place at a special event full of thrills and excitement and organized by ALJ, sole distributor of Toyota Motor Corporation brands in Saudi Arabia, on the Jeddah Corniche and attended by more than a thousand car enthusiasts. The event included a drift show by a team of professional drivers demonstrating the unmatched performance of the Toyota 86.
“This is the first Toyota sports car to be launched in a very long time and to make an appropriately impressive comeback Toyota has geared the 86 to be the first choice for today’s drivers who want an eye catching car with a powerhouse performance,” said Adel Ezzat, marketing director at ALJ. “With its sleek exterior and ultra smart styling details, the highly desirable Toyota 86 is a true sports car.”
The new sports car combines the impressive pull of its 200 DIN hp 2.0 liter Boxer Engine with a rear wheel drive and a kerb weight of just 1,240 kg. The result is a hugely engaging drive — a vehicle that can be driven as an extension of the driver’s body.
The car makes the most of a light kerb weight, making it easy for the driver to exploit its nimble handling. Both the powertrain and the driver’s seat have been set as low and as far back as possible, for a near-perfect front-to-rear weight balance and an ultra-low center of gravity. The suspension features MacPherson struts at the front and double wishbones at the rear, with ventilated disc brakes fore and aft.
Inside, sports seats deliver the perfect driving position. The simple, bold instrument cluster encircles a large tachometer. And styling details include carbon-effect trim, aviation-style rocker switches and lightweight aluminum pedals.
