Prince Salman bin Abdul Aziz University (SAU), Al-Kharj and the Saudi Commission for Tourism and Antiquities (SCTA) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for cooperation in documenting heritage and historical sites, rehabilitation of tourism human resources and supporting the university in the establishment of a college of tourism and antiquities.

“Prince Sultan bin Salman, SCTA president has signed an MoU with the Chancellor of Prince Salman bin Abdul Aziz University on scientific cooperation between the two organizations in the field of documenting heritage and historical sites, in addition to cooperation in the rehabilitation of tourism human resources and provision of necessary support to the university for the establishment of a college of tourism and antiquities, besides cooperation in the areas of statistical surveys and scientific research in the fields of tourism and national heritage as well as cooperation in research on the investment opportunities in tourism in the Al-Kharj municipality,” an SCTA official said on Tuesday.

He further informed that in the light of the existing cooperation between the SCTA and SAU, a delegation composed of students and faculty members at the university recently visited the commission’s headquarter here.

The meeting was also attended by senior officials of SCTA including Hamad bin Mohammad Esmaeel, vice-president of SCTA for investment and tourism development and Eng. Osama Al Khalawi, director general of tourism sites development, the official added.

He said that during the meeting, the commission’s general department of engineering affairs and support services made a presentation on various projects of SCTA, its strategy and the projects follow-up system.

Apart from the MoU, SCTA and SAU are working on a number of studies and research works, represented by Prince Abdul Rahman bin Nasir Center.
