Sharjah’s Splash Park latest attraction for visitors

Sharjah’s recently opened Splash Park in Al-Majaz Waterfront attracts a huge number of residents and visitors from the GCC.
The Splash Park is a fully automated, zero-depth aquatic play area suitable for the entire family, from toddlers to adults, as well as for children with special needs. State-of-the-art technology reduces water consumption through sequenced activation and low-flow hypodermic technology.
Sharjah has long been one of the favorite holiday destinations for Saudis. According to figures from the Tourism Department, Saudi tourists are Sharjah’s second largest market after Europeans. Sharjah received more than 65,000 Saudi tourists in the first quarter of this year alone.
“Splash Park is a unique concept — a safe and refreshing entertaining water play system for children up to 12 years. What makes this system different is that there is no standing water, so there are fewer safety risks involved.
“This also makes it possible for children with special needs to make use of the facility with their wheelchairs and enjoy playing with others,” said Ahmed Obaid Al-Qaseer, chief operating officer of Sharjah Investment and Development Authority (Shurooq).
“The park features a wonderful flowers theme, and children will have the opportunity to enjoy playing under the aqua dome and chasing their friends with water sprinklers within a safe and zero-depth aquatic play area. The park will be open during the summer from 4:00 to 11:30 p.m.,” he added.
The AED120 million Al-Majaz Waterfront will be the main venue for all major events to be hosted in Sharjah, such as the Sharjah Ramadan Festival, the Sharjah Water Festival, the Sharjah Lights Festival and the Sharjah Grand Prix — UIM Formula1 Powerboat World Championship.
