Even though only six players dressed for game against BHBC, Tropapips still came out the winner by 108- 100 at the weekend in the 2012 Boy Teves Basketball Tournament organized by Overseas Filipino Basketball League (OFBL) at the Time-out Sports Academy gymnasium on Television Streeet, Ghulail District outside of Jeddah.
The veteran Edwin Gadingan showed flashes of his old brilliance to score 30 points for Tropapips and was named Best Player of the game in the tournament sponsored by Al Zugbi Sports Tailoring, Amaia, Pepsi, and Art’s Cuisine.
Gadingan also did well defensively, rebounding and blocking shots.
Point guard Montano Delacruz supported Gadingan with 25 points, while Dorado, Mercado and Arana added 21, 17 and 10 points.
Nemitz Dangao, a former Palarong Pambansa player and former MVP, really showed magnificent game, tried to carry the fight for BHBC by his lonesome and finished with 40 points.
Nesma bounced back from defeat against Butler by beating Takbo 73-55.
Best Player Jimmy Pattad led Nesma to victory with 18 points. Supporting Pattad were Arjhay Batungbakal and big man Rod Lusong who each scored 12 points.
Encabo and Ballinan combined 29 points for Takbo.
Point guard Julia had a magnificent game scoring 18 points and earning Best Player honors to lead Compass to an emphatic 70-59 triumph over struggling Wasalak.
Padernal contributed 14 points and Cudal added for Compass.
Hernan Huerto scored 12 points, Glenn Manalili had 15 and Bautista 11 points for Wasalak which suffered its third straight defeat of the tournament.
Rabya, one of the hottest teams in the league, stopped Almarai 89-82 and Salud was chosen the Best Player of the game with 27 points. Airnet best Al-Zamil 89-82 and the Best Player awardee was Alturas with 26 points. Jica won against Al-Zugbi 71-70 and the best player was Doronilla with 23 points.
Hidada won against struggling SAJCO 96-81 and the best player was Minoza with 26 points.
Meanwhile, Dabarkadz and Event Mall clash at 7:30 a.m. today in Game 1 of their best-of-three for the Friday Morning Games Division championship.
