JEDDAH: Aalami Urdu Markaz is going to organize a special gathering today to remember late Syed Mahtab Ahmad, who died a week ago. Mahtab was working in a very senior financial position with a multi-national company in Jeddah.
“Late brother Mahtab was a well-known personality in the Jeddah expat circle, said Athar Abbasi,” president, Aalami Urdu Markaz.
“He will always be remembered for his relentless efforts to organize literary gatherings and was also associated with organizations like the Pakistan Repatriation Council (PRC) by accumulating support for those hapless Pakistani citizens stranded in Bangladesh,” he said.
Mahtab was also the finance secretary of the Aalami Urdu Markaz, Jeddah.
Abbasi appealed to people who knew Mahtab personally to attend the function for paying tribute to Syed Mahtab Ahmad’s extraordinary services for the community and Urdu literature and pray for his forgiveness by Almighty Allah.
The program, he said, will be held at Lasani Spinzer Restaurant at Madinah Road, at 8:30 p.m.
