* US President Barack Obama is facing criticism by Republican politicians over his large-scale immigration reform plans.

* According to the White House, Obama is upset because of the lack of progress Congress is making toward the reform and now may take action unilaterally.

* Sources say the move will enable the government to grant work permits to millions of illegal US immigrants, allowing them to stay in the country without threat of deportation.

* Sen. Jeff Sessions issued a warning to the president recently, saying the move would be an affront to the US citizens, which they will never forgive.

* Obama is already facing criticism over “exceeding his powers” in various issues, including health reforms, trading of five Taleban members for the captive Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl, and preventing the deportation of some illegal migrant kids.

* Experts fear whether the president might be intentionally provoking a constitutional crisis. Republicans, in the coming days, may push to oust the president.

* Republican Steve King said recently the opposition needs to bring impeachment hearings immediately before the House of Representatives.

* On the other hand, some believe that the push to oust the president would further strengthen Democrats’ political base, quoting the example of impeachment against President Bill Clinton in 1998.

* In order to remove the president from office, the move has to be approved by a simple majority in House of the Representatives — which is controlled by the Republicans at present — and by two-thirds majority in the Senate.

* With the Senate currently in the hands of the Democrats, the move to oust Obama currently seems unlikely.
