KARACHI: Heavy rains lashed the metropolis on early Saturday morning leading to seven deaths, geo.tv reported.

Three people died from electrocution in Machar Colony while a woman and child were killed when the roof of their house collapsed in Naval Colony. Two people were also killed in SITE and Gulshan.

Commissioner Karachi Shoaib Ahmed Siddiqui said he was overseeing the drainage of rainwater across Karachi on directives of Governor Sindh Ishratul Ebad.

Residents of the city have been critical of the administration blaming their incompetence for water accumulating on roads.

The MET office has predicted more rain in Karachi during the next 24 hours.
