Young Saudis treated to mass wedding

Four hundred young Saudi couples celebrated their wedding at an event arranged and organized by Weaam Marriage & Family Guidance Center at Dammam’s Green Hall.
Deputy Gov. Prince Jelawi bin Abdul Aziz bin Musaed attended the mass wedding that was held under the patronage of Eastern Province Gov. Prince Mohammed bin Fahd.
A large number of prominent figures, including officials, preachers, poets and businessmen, as well as relatives and friends of the 400 bridegrooms and brides attended the ceremony. This is the second such event that was organized by Weaam.
Addressing the newly-wed couples, a clearly delighted Prince Jelawi said: “I am very happy to attend this event. These are the best moments in your life. I wish you all a happy and prosperous married life.”
Prince Jelawi continued “I congratulate the grooms and brides, and would like to remind them of a Hadith of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) that says, ‘The best among you is he who is the most kind to his wife and I am the kindest among you to my wives.’”
The deputy governor praised and appreciated the efforts of the chairman of the Weaam organization, Sheikh Saleh Al-Haidan, and his team for contributing to the success of the mass wedding event.
The ceremony began with the recitation of the holy verses from the Qur’an and was followed by speeches by the deputy governor and Mohammed Abdulqader, the secretary general of Weaam Organization. Later, a variety of cultural programs were performed to celebrate the weddings.
Mohammed Abdulqader thanked Prince Mohammed and Prince Jelawi for extending support to the Weaam’s mass wedding initiative. “There are 2,000 young men and women who are waiting to be married through our programs. So far, we also solemnized the marriages of 7,000 men and women,” he said.
“I appreciate the effort of all government and private sector departments and the sponsors as well as the grooms, brides and their families in making this event successful,” said Abdulqader.
